This teleconference will focus on the HIPAA requirements regarding privacy/security/HITECH. You will learn about the various policies and procedures you may want to put into place to ensure ongoing privacy/security/HITECH compliance, including the notice of proposed rulemaking that was published by HHS at the end of May 2011 to modify its rules on accounting of disclosures (print or electronic) outside of covered entities and their business associates and to provide the rules that apply to access reports of who has accessed electronic records. Briefly revisit your Business Associate Agreements, the expanded enforcement provisions and other HITECH changes. Should certain of your agreements be amended? Which ones? Dan & Jessica will provide the practical information you will need to understand your responsibilities as business associates and to assist your clients with regard to yours and your clients’ responsibilities for privacy/security/HITECH compliance.
